"On voulait vraiment raconter ce qui se passerait si ça arrivait maintenant [...]. On a passé beaucoup de temps à parler de l'économie, de la technologie par exemple. Toute la technologie s'arrêterait. Et on se concentrerait uniquement sur la tehcnologie des Jaegers. Vous auriez la même montre, la même voiture, le même ordi, le même écran, et la seule chose qui avancerait serait l'armement, ???, et les mécanismes pour créer le jaeger lui-même. Et puis on a parlé de l'économie, ce qui arriverait aux riches, aux pauvres. Ce qui arriverait aux propriétés en bord de mer. Parce que je pense que plus de 80% du commerce mondial transite par voie maritime. Alors, qu'est qui se passerait si l'océan s'arrêtait?". GDT explique aussi qu'il a adoré Robocop à cause des pucs, du fait d'avoir une impression du monde, d'une structure socio-économique et d'une culture différente.

GDT explained that he enjoy Robocop because of the ads, the facts it gives a sense of the world, of a different socio-economic structure and culture.
Murawsky, du forum Deltorofilms, explique qu'il a assisté au tournage d'une scène du film, dans une centrale électrique désaffectée à Toronto, et que dans le film des gens semblaient réclamer des bouts de métal de cet endroit. Il a aussi trouvé une fausse canette de bière laissée là par accident, appelée "Ration Beer". Il est donc possible qu'il y ait une économie de guerre dans le film ("effort de guerre", rations...). Le poster va dans ce sens.
Murawsky, from Deltorofilms forum, explains that he've seen a shooting in an old power plant: "I was filming in a location that was used for Pacific RIm, a scene in a deserted power plant in Toronto called The Hearn, and in the movie people seem to be reclaiming scrap metal from this location. Anyway, I found a prop can of beer that has been left behind (by accident no doubt) It is called "Ration Beer". So that supports your theory." So we can think about a war economy (war effort, rations). The poster also suggests it.
